This drama-comedy relates to the lives of the Verdusco brothers, Beto (played Luna) and Tato (played Garcia Bernal), who work on a banana farm and play on the town soccer team. One day they are discovered by a head-hunter and Tato goes to play for Deportivo Amaranto, but due to his style of playing they nickname him Cursi (Corny). Meanwhile Beto, feeling betryed, travels to the Mexico City to play for Atlético Nopaleros where he will get out of debt as an excellent goalkeeper. His nickname is Rudo (Rude). Their lives will go in different directions, but ultimately they will rival each other in the world of professional soccer.
