Mexican actor Diego Luna bathed in beans today for the “Trade with Justice” campaign by the global ONG Oxfam International, in which artists such as Antonio Banderas, Bono and the British band Coldplay take part.   Luna (Mexico City, 1979) allowed a stream of beans, the basic food of Mexicacans, to be poured over him while he was joking and playing with the grain falling down around him.   “Beans are coming off of me on the strangest sides,” he said amusingly.   Fair trade in the world “is important because there has to be a balance, because if not, we are not going to reach any side,” said Luna moments before the vegetable shower, in an interview with EFE.   The actor thought that Mexico is at a “very dangerous point, that it can make the scales go to the positive side,” before the total liberalization of the agrarian market with Canada and the US on January 1, 2008.   The actor releases The Night Buffalo this week, based on the novel by Guillermo Arriaga, producer and script writter for the film.   In the film, Luna is seen in a love triangle with his best friend, a schizophrenic guy that decides to commit suicide, and his girlfriend, who along with the actor will constantly feel the shadow of their dead partner.   The Mexican defines his character “Manuel” as “a young man who cannot live, who cannot love, who cannot communicate”.   In order to play the part, Luna lost approximately twelve kilos, in order to show the gradual deterioration of the young man.   “It was a difficult process where I suffered a lot, the character was a tortured guy, a guy that I loved to stop filming and take off of myself. It was complicated to be Manuel every day,” he explained.   Luna has just finished filming Rudo y Cursi, that brought him together again with his partner and friend Gael García Bernal, along with whom he jumped on the international scene in the film Y tu mamá también (2001) and with whom he shares the production company Canana Films.   “It is very fortunate to work with the people that you love. I have worked with my father, with my best friends, and there is nothing like that, ” he pointed out.   Gael is also a part of the Oxfam campaign, for whom he is a global ambassador.   Rudo y Cursi is directed by Carlos Cuarón, brother of Alfonso Cuarón, the director who assembled the performers for the first time in their jump to the international cinema. To repeat in front of the cameras of one of the Cuarón brothers reminded them of when they were 19, when they filmed Y tu mamá también, but soon the movie monopolized all his energy, said the young actor.   “I think that it is going to happen again so that we act together,” said Luna, because “to find a project as actors where the two take part, many things have to come together and I do not know if it is going to happen soon.”   About his partner he affirmed that “it is very pleasant to work with someone as talented as Gael.”   Both actors recently organized a dinner in the Mexican capital in order to raise funds destined for two organizations that fight for human rights, one of them sponsored by British singer Peter Gabriel.   Luna debuted as the director last May with the documentary JC Chávez and proved to be very satisfied with his work behind the camera and expressed his desire to take it up again on another occasion.   “I am sure that I am going to do it, but I don’t yet have in my hands story I want to tell, ” he explained.   Translated by Heather~		El actor mexicano Diego Luna se bañó hoy en fríjoles para la campaña "Comercio con justicia" de la ONG global Oxfam Internacional, en la que participan artistas como Antonio Banderas, Bono y la banda británica Coldplay. Luna (Ciudad de México, 1979) se dejó echar encima chorro tras chorro de fríjoles, alimento básico de los mexicanos, mientras bromeaba y jugaba con los granos caídos a su alrededor. "Me están saliendo fríjoles por lados rarísimos", explicaba divertido.   El comercio justo en el mundo "es importante porque tiene que haber un balance, porque si no, no vamos a llegar a ningún lado", dijo Luna momentos antes de la ducha vegetal, en entrevista con Efe.   El actor consideró que México está en “un punto muy peligroso, que puede hacer que la balanza se vaya del lado positivo o el campo se estanque", en vísperas de la liberalización total del mercado agrario con Canadá y EU el 1 de enero de 2008.   El actor estrena esta semana "El búfalo de la noche", basada en la novela de Guillermo Arriaga, productor y guionista de la cinta.   En el filme, Luna se ve inmiscuido en un triángulo de pasiones con su mejor amigo, un chico esquizofrénico que decide suicidarse, y la novia de éste, junto a la que el actor sentirá constantemente la sombra de su compañero muerto.   El mexicano definió a su personaje "Manuel" como "un joven que no sabe vivir, que no sabe amar, que no se sabe comunicar". Para interpretarlo, Luna perdió unos doce kilos, con el objeto de mostrar el deterioro gradual del joven.   "Fue un proceso bien duro donde sufrí mucho, el personaje era un tipo bien atormentado, un tipo que me encantó terminar de rodar y quitármelo de encima, era complicado ser Manuel todos los días", explicó.   Luna acaba de terminar el rodaje de "Rudo y Cursi", que le reunió de nuevo con su compañero y amigo Gael García Bernal, junto a quien saltó a la escena internacional en la cinta "Y tu mamá también" (2001) y con quien comparte la productora Canana Films.   "Es muy afortunado trabajar con la gente que quieres, he trabajado con mi padre, con mis mejores amigos, y no hay nada que se le parezca a eso", apuntó.   Gael es también parte de la campaña de Oxfam, para quien ejerce de embajador global. "Rudo y Cursi" está dirigida por Carlos Cuarón, hermano de Alfonso Cuarón, el director que reunió a los intérpretes por primera vez en su salto al cine internacional. Repetir frente a la cámara de uno de los hermanos Cuarón les trajo reminiscencias de sus 19 años, cuando rodaron "Y tu mamá también", pero pronto la película acaparó toda su energía, explicó el joven actor.   "Yo creo que va a pasar un rato otra vez para que actuemos juntos", dijo Luna, porque "para encontrar un proyecto como actores en el que los dos participemos se tienen que juntar muchas cosas y no sé si vaya a suceder pronto". Sobre su compañero afirmó que "es muy grato trabajar con alguien tan talentoso como Gael".   Ambos actores organizaron recientemente en la capital mexicana una cena para recaudar fondos destinados a dos organizaciones que luchan por los derechos humanos, una de ellas auspiciada por el cantante británico Peter Gabriel.   Luna, que debutó como director en mayo pasado con el documental "JC Chávez" se mostró muy satisfecho con el trabajo detrás de cámara y expresó su deseo de retomarlo en otra ocasión.   "Estoy seguro de que lo voy a hacer, pero todavía no tengo en mis manos la historia que quiero contar", explicó.   http://www.frontera.info/EdicionEnLinea/Notas/Entretenimiento/15082007/257719.aspx
